The Struggle for Women's Rights and Their Realization in Serbia, although more relevant today than ever, has a long history in these regions. The exhibition showcases a large number of articles from historical Serbian press related to this topic and reveals that the first articles on women's rights were published in the Serbian language as early as the mid-19th century. Women's rights and the fight for their realization constitute an integral and very important part of Serbia's historical heritage and are therefore an inseparable part of the cultural identity of our people and the tradition that is preserved in the Republic of Serbia.

The virtual exhibition features 198 articles from Serbia's historical newspapers, spanning different historical periods from the 1860s to the 1970s. The articles were retrieved from the largest searchable digital library in the region, pretraziva.srb, which contains over 1.2 million searchable pages of Serbia's cultural heritage and the region's countries.

The exhibition was realized by the University Library 'Svetozar Marković' in December 2023 in collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Belgrade.
